I was looking around on some job boards, because I'm thinking about changing schools when my contract finishes. But looking around it appears like I have some pretty decent hours for a hagwon. I work MWF 10-7:30 and TT 10-2:30. TT is only teaching kindy. Of course there are some extras involved here. 20-30 min meetings once a week, sometimes showing up early for a field trip, phone teaching and the challenges of teaching kindy.
But I couldn't find any other schools with a similar schedule. Most of what I found were requiring the teacher to be there 8 hours each day. I really like having my TT afternoons off. What are your required hours? |

I worked at a hogwan a few years ago with that kept a pretty good schedule.
We started at 10:00am and finished for the morning at 1:50. Then we'd start again at 3pm and finish at 6. I loved the hours. I was always off at dinnertime. Unfortunately, many of my other hogwan friends worked from 2 to 9 or 10pm at night. I wouldn't be willing to do that. |

I have almost the exact same hours. But no meetings and no phone teaching. Those free afternoons really are sweet. |

Sounds sorta like my hagwon. I teach kindy and then have a mix of other classes of elementary and middle school from 2 to 6pm. I think th middle school are the most difficult due to bad negative complaining behavior and gender segregation they create for themselves, but it's natural for 10 to 12 year olds to be like that.
As for teaching only kindy, I don't believe that are any of those jobs, because they will stick you with 3 to 4 hours of afternoon classes since kindy is not a full day. Personally I enjoy my kindy homeroom class students over my other 100 different students, but I am off 3 to 4 hours earlier than most hagwon teachers due to teaching kindy in the morning. |
