Ha! Watch Buddy Rich get his ars... err, bu... err, "floor tom" handed to him! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erE8WTngaAY

Meanwhile, in all seriousness, drum battles like that Rich-Krupa spectacle aside, ever since drum solos became contests of speed and endurance rather than embellishing a tune, I fail to see the point in them. This is particularly true of rawk shows in my perspective. Prodigious tub-thumping skills are all well and good, but I want a nice groove rather than 10 minutes of 163876541684654 bpm whirr.

Groovy.

<UNDERSTATEMENT type="gross" time-frame="of the century">

He's got a bit of potential, that Chambers fellow.

</UNDERSTATEMENT>

I'm very partial to people like David Garibaldi and Steve Gadd.

Wink

Both of your selections are also fine examples.

Man, I was expecting to see some hot guy, but no. How could you get my hopes up like that?

I'm not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't that.

No, that video is not hot. The guy, maybe. A haircut, a shirt, off the drums and standing up straight... maybe. Nothing is hotter than talent though and I'm not seeing it.

Sorry to resurrect this somewhat dead thread, but the following post isn't really enough to start a whole new thread, and it's sort of about drumming so...

I recall watching That's Incredible about 9387983793854 year ago. There appeared on the show a little kid, around elementary school age, who was some kind of drum prodigy. He was very good. I think I remember that his farther was a tub thumper as well.

If we arbitrarily assume he was 7 years old at the time, and if we consider that That's Incredible ran from 1980 to 1984, that makes the kid 30 - 34 years old. I wonder what became of him.

Does anyone know of any famous drummers up to 34 years old out there that were on That's Incredible?

Dennis Chambers also seems to have been largely influenced by the masterful cymbol-work of Max Roach.http://youtube.com/watch?v=H8syiOwwVyY

Here's another who's among the all-time great jazz drummers: Elvin Jones ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wfVhwPnjeQ

I know that chicks like drummers, but I am not a chick. I think his drumming is hot though (just over one minute of your time):

So yay or nay - is this Norwegian fella hot to trot, or not?

I think most women like clean cut guys (think Ricahrd Gere in "An Officer and Gentleman"). Looks like he has an impressive talent, though.
