| I'm past the age of Logans Run, since I haven't killed myself yet, they'd be forced to hunt me down in Japan. |

I'm also curious as to where else...Fukuoka or Kyoto seem popular. Any others? Curious where you are, LMG, as well...although I have a feeling its just small enough you wouldn't want to disclose it on a public forum.

as an american, it's a pretty large city... larger than most large american cities.
but it's "country" to japanese.
in the same way that places outside of seoul are "country" to koreans regardless of the size.
nara, kobe, sapporo, chiba city, saitama, etc are all large cities that are pretty popular.
i'll just say that hmm...i'm in japan haha.
and i haven't been to any of those cities! just my placement and tokyo.
tokyo's ok, but i don't think i'd like to live there. |

I've been thinking of applying to Japanese uni jobs just for the heck of it. Most of them are offered outside the Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto/Fukuoka/Kobe realm i.e. most popular places.
Some of the places I wrote down and was thinking of were Matsuyama, Niigata, Okayama and Yokohama. Not popular but seemingly decent enough size that I might be able to get a job from online as well as being in a city that's decent size enough to enjoy if I did get it.
From what I understand of Japan, most everywhere is alright. Whereas in Korea, I really wouldn't want to live to far from the foreigner haven areas for the conveniences and most imporantly, for my own sanity. |

Learning Japanese, especially reading it intermixed with the Chinese characters is quite difficult. It takes less than a week to learn Korean characters, why waste my time?
Japan is only good for a vaca. Way expensive to travel by train.
Most teachers where suits there and I'm happy with my shirt and dress pants.
Don't forget the hurricanes and earthquakes.
Although Korea is getting more expensive, there are a lot more positives. |
