| So a hot woman has to spend the night being devastatingly insulted by whoever she doesn't want to get with? I think you call that...sour grapes. |
I don't buy that. Hot women always say "We never get asked out because men are intimidated by our looks." And then when a poor fellow has enough grapes to go up to her to dance, she has to shoot them down like they are maggots.
I got a buddy of mine that gets shot down all the time because he has a speech impediment. Some girls will make fun of him as they turn him down. Those are the girls I can't stand.
A simple "Sorry, i'm with someone" can suffice. |
I quit using that one. Both times I tried letting a guy down easy I got "well, but if that weren't the case, you would right? Give me your number for when you break up with him. Which you will be doing right now because I am so hot." And then I have to explain, well, actually I'm not with anyone. I'm just completely not interested. AWKWARD!!! (No, of course not. But I'd be stuck proclaiming my love for my imaginary boyfriend until he finally got the hint and went away. Ugh.)
Now I just smile and say "no thanks". 100% success rate, and no complaints so far. There's no hint to get. No game. Just a simple rejection.
The response is usually a slightly stunned look and an "okay, bye". Love it. |

It was quite painful to watch that. |

Absolutely. I'd harbor no ill feelings if something of that order was said. No sneers, no smirks, no sarcasm, no profanity, just a simple "No thank you. (I'm seeing/meeting/expecting someone)" will adequately rebuff me without hurting feelings/egos/whatever.
Of course, having said that, the guy has to take the no at face value and be civil in return. Say, "Sorry to have bothered you. Enjoy your evening." Don't resort to insults or calling her a lesbian. Not every woman who says no to you is a lesbian. You are not that big of a stud.

What's to love? You were civil. He was civil, if stunned, in return. Sounds like that's what should happen.

Here's mine with a twist of sorts.
Guy hitting on me. It's clear I want nothing to do with him. He gets even more annoying. I very plainly tell him to get on a boat to f***-offityland.
"You're a biatch" he says looking smug thinking he's just dropped the bomb on me and I'm going to get all horrified, crumble, and cry.
"No I'm not" I say leaning closer to his face "I'm a f***ing biatch!"
He sure wasn't expecting that |
I had no idea you were a woman. |

Haha, nice one!
I've always tried to be very sweet about turning a guy down because I reckon they've had to work up the nerve to give it a go. But some men just wont get the message, or when they do they're very nasty about it.
I remember once when a very annoying guy regularly tried it with me. I said to him "Look why do you keep trying when I always say NO?" He said "Because when a girl says 'yes' you know she's a slag. When she says 'maybe' you know she means yes. And when she says 'no' you know she means maybe..." And so I said, "well then what does this mean? F A C K O F F!!!!" |

Okay, okay, my turn. I've got a few stories, tangentially related to the subject.
I once shot a woman down in a fairly creative way. She had literally grabbed me and pulled me onto the dance floor. Every time I tried to tactfully dance backwards away from her, she pulled me back toward her, slapped me and told me I WASN'T getting away. She then led me, bemused and mildly annoyed, to the bar, and demanded I buy her a drink. When I tried to refuse, she slapped me again. I relented and bought her a bar-special one dollar screwdriver. As she sipped it, she had the audacity to say "Are you coming home with me tonight?"
"No," I replied, smiling like it was a joke. "I'm going to ditch you when you go home to the bathroom." Ten minutes later, I did just that. Our mutual friends tell me she spent weeks complaining about what an jerk I was(!)
Being a guy, I don't get to use cool shoot-down lines often. I would encourage every woman reading this to use that trick on the next pushy drunken lowlife you meet, though.

This is the dumbed-down korean version.
Koreans have confused the whole process because nothing a woman ever says or does to them can actually be taken to mean "No".
A woman will scream and yell, wrestle and shout at a korean guy who is actually manhandling her. Its just play-acting, and she fully intends to give it up once he has shown enough "persistence".
If a woman screams and runs down a back alley at night crying rape, it just serves to egg him on more "she's playing hard to get, how sweet".
Totally messed up... |

They even have an expression for it. "You have to chop the tree ten times before it will fall." I'm sure someone will chime in with the actual Korean. I can't be arsed. |

A guy I know back in Wisconsin likes to say "No means maybe, maybe means yes, and yes means 'in the butt'." And he was only sort of joking. He's married now. Just goes to show you that there's someone (stupid) for everyone. |
