My hagwon boss sent my transcripts to the Dept of Edu. saying they are asking all hagwons to provide proof of their diplomas. Today he asked me for my passport and ARC card to send also. Has anyone gone through this yet? Not sure what passport and ARC have to do with it all? Rolling Eyes

My public school recently asked for all my documents.

I told them no. I applied directly through GEPIK and handed my application/documents to the supervisor of Elementary schools in GEPIK himself. I told my school that if they have a problem with my paperwork then they can call the supervisor at GEPIK.

After that, my school said "No, thats ok. We just wanted to check some things."

Normally I wouldn't mind having them make copies of my stuff, but my diploma and other relevant documents is being kept safe in Suwon at my relative's house. No way I'm gonna make a 2 hour trip to Suwon just so my school can verify documents that have already been approved by the Superintendant/Supervisor of schools.

Every goofball in the chain seems to think he/she has a right and/or obligation to check your credentials.

If one more person wants to see mine, I will just refer him/her to the person who has a copy of everything. The originals are off-limits once they have 1 copy.

If they want to see my passport or alien card, I make a copy myself at home and give it to them. The less people that touch my passport, the better.

That is odd. They already have copies of them.

When are they going to figure out that it should be Immi checking out qualifications BEFORE they hand out visas? I still say Immi needs to hire a couple of English speakers and give them the job of verifying all E-2 applicant qualifications. Then issue that applicant an ID number and enter it in the computer. Once checked, it remains checked. The ID could be used online.

The consulate is the only entity that should ever have your passport. For visa purposes. The Dept of Education only needs copies. If you have an E-2 it's already been verified. I phoned them myself to confirm.
