(Inspired by several recent threads)
There are a number of people on here who claim that Koreans give them a rough time or they've had a rough time in South Korea. Beatings, being choked, assaults, verbal abuse, forced to take drug tests...and the list goes on.
Yet these people still stay and sign on year after year.
Why is that?
Are they unemployable back home?
Can they not go back (fleeing the police, child support)?
What do you think?
Seriously what drives people to stay here after all that?
Is money so really important? If it is than stop whining. You've made the decision that money is more important than your physical and mental health. It's like someone signing up for the army and then whining about being shot at.
Personally I think most of these are greatly exaggerated or at least somewhat embellished in a way designed to make the OP look better.
Note: This is not a "if you don't like it go home post" This is a "If you are repeatedly attacked here, why would you stay?"

| My guess is they had it worse back home, and although it sometimes seems like they've forgotten that, they prefer to stay here and vent. |

Job and girlfriend keep me here even though I strongly dislike the place, although it really didn't start until a couple of months into a new contract.
Definitely not unemployable back home, but it seems people my age out of even good universities just work 8 hours a day at an insurance company with limited potential, then finally end up back in school after working into a deadend.
Plus, I suppose it's a bit of comfort. I've been here over a year and a half, and I've gathered moss. I would really like to move on, and we'll see what happens when I go home after I finish my contract, try to get a job with the government, and see if my girlfriend kills me for not returning to Korea. |

| Let's face it, with the (un)employment situation back home, how many of us can go back and earn, save and spend as much as we can here? |

The assault stories are either exaggerated or complete B.S. or the "victim" is a troublemaker.
I suspect the OPs in these latest nonsense threads have an axe to grind. Trying to stir up anti-Korea hate because they're having a tough time.
Hopefully not too many people fall it, and start walking around scared, because there's no need. It's just so safe here. |

What a f'ing joke. Why would ANYONE make up stories like that?
The irony is that trying to be honest about personal assaults in Korea only bring about hostility and disbelief by the expat community.
I'm disgusted. |

Why ask why? Looking for a fight? Always seems that way with you.
Don't worry. Just put the clown suit on after your shower tomorrow morning and you'll forget about all your problems. It's been a long time since you've dressed up in your proper attire. Come out of the closet for good this time.
You'll feel better after giving up your denial. |
