Anyone know if I can open a new bank acct. here with a passport only? Or do I need an Alien Registration card? |

I did it before. After that though every time I wanted to do anything with my bank account with a teller, my ARC wouldn't do; they made me come back with my passport. |

What bank did you get it at? I was turned down at a few... |

do not get a bank account without an ARC , you will not be classed as a resident and it will say that on your book
this means that when you want to do something you need a bank account for (like get a phone) you will not be able to, even if you have an ARC by then...

I got my account thru my employer before my ARC and haven't had trouble, though I didn't try to get a phone with the account.
Hana bank does a good job, though some branches won't do things for the waygookin and you have to venture to the next one. |

but I do hav e another question.....
When do the new banking restrictions for non-registered foreigners go into effect?
They will have an impact on his question. |
