i've never taught uni students, so I don't know: I've taught adults, and yes the women were pretty flirty. Then again, I had only 2 smallish classes of them and didn't really want the politics that sh**ging half my class would result in.

You know what I find amazing but sad is that in my current contract, at a university/hagwan, there was no talk about intermingling or canoodling with your students. Maybe someone thought, hey they are in their 20s, it's their life, whatever they want to do to get an A. Still, it would be a highly unprofessional thing to do, IMHO.
But last year, at the kiddie hagwan I worked at, there was the proviso that I could have my contract terminated if someone found me having any sort of relationship that would compromise the hagwan's reputation. When I asked my director about what would happen if hypothetically, people knew I was dating a guy who was an adult student of mine (so I am a dork, but I like to play fair, and said guy was damn cute), all he said was he didn't really care, but not to make a big deal of it.
So it just creeps me out to think that maybe at some point in my director's career, something happened where he HAD to put in the don't touch the kids clause. Or maybe my director thought there'd be a higher chance of a snowball survivng hell than me going out with a Korean guy. |
