What do you do in this situation? You have a meal with a nice group of people. You get a little tipsy. You decide to go to a Norea Bang.
Just as you think you can go home someone else decides to sing. The Buzz you experiences has worn out and is now replaced by a headache.

Why aren't you drinking AT the Noraebang?

Some noraebang's don't serve alcohol as it's technically illegal.

Why is it illegal? You can be a drunken slob in public here, but legal adults can't drink while they sing in a room? Is the law aimed at minors?

Why would you pick to go to a noraebang that doesn't serve booze?

Some norae-bangs are aimed at kids and don't serve alcohol...however the majority do.

The ones that do you will see this in their sign..

Go for a pee and don't come back.

Since they are in stupor anyway they won't notice, and if they do, just tell them you woke up in the toilet the morning after.

It sounds like one of the worst situations one could possibly end up in. I would promptly kill myself upon realization that I had gone to a norae bang.

Hey

I love the Noraebang but one condition I always abide by....go home if you feel like it. I wouldn't want to have others sitting there for my sake.

If everyone feels 'in the mood' it can be a great night...it's a bit hit and miss.

Very Happy

Just do what I used to do.......

keep a list of songs in your wallet. The numbers are all the same and can be typed in at most of the places. When you are getting bored, stand up, grab that little remote machine, and start typing in YOUR songs. ALL 40 OF THEM.

I like to mix things up a bit. For example, start out with something wild, like BORN TO BE WILD, then something sad, like BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER, then somethng wild CENTERFOLD, then something sad TIME IN A BOTTLE. When the wild songs come on you get up, take off your shirt, tie it around your head, and jump up on the table. When the sad songs come on, you just drink beer and cry. Pretty soon you will be alone.

Yeah, there's always the bonus 10 minutes that keep popping up after the timer runs out....that drives me nuts.

If Korean friends or co-workers are trying to drag me out to one, I give one stipulation...NO FRICKIN' K-BALLADS. Nothing sucks the life out of a party more than some over-the-top weepy moanfest from the school secretary whose boyfriend just left for the military.

I stick to my guns, and if someone tries to sneak one in, I'm out of there.

You ever hear of a bag? That what you put your booze in when you sneak it into the singing room.

Ha!~ I love it!

And yes, Pack Yu Man's got the right idea. Drinks from the convenience store! Much cheaper! Most of the noraebangs in my little town charge 3,000 for a 375ml can of beer. Usually we order a round, and then refill from our stash. Tuck your booze away, though. Mean noraebang adjummas will kick you out!
