| I'm planning to go from Bangkok to Anchor Wat. What is better getting the Visa in Korea or getting it in Thailand |

you get it upon arrival (via air) in the Cambodian airports themselves.
have 2 pictures and about $30US ready. |

not flying into cambodia, going from bangkok to cambodia.
getting the visa is really easy. you can do everything from bangkok if you don't want to deal with it here. cost is about the same, give or take a few dollars. |

Flying from bangkok to siem reap?
You can get it at the airport when flying (the best option - $20 only).
On the ground, you get the visa at the border but they charge you a bit extra, like $25, and usually ask for Baht. You can haggle, but you don't have much leverage.
Both are easy, I wouldn't make a special trip to the embassy in Bangkok, unless its convenient. |

I just got back from Cambodia and Thailand two weeks ago. I decided to fly into Phnom Phen and take the boat up Tonle Sap river to Siem Reap.
All I needed was 20$US and a passport photo. You can get a photo at the airport for a dollar if you are like me and left your photos in your checked baggage.
One of the travel agents on Khoa San Road strongly suggested I get my visa now instead of at the border if I am traveling overland. Too much corruption at the boarder crossing in Poipet so you might end up paying double to get your visa.
Also if you go on some of the Khoa San Road buses make sure you get the cheapest one as they are all the same company. Also the bus on the Cambodian side of the border is not air conditioned. The Thai border agents are stricter about visa rules crossing back into Thailand so make sure you have an ongoing ticket.

It'll be a standard and predictable degree of corruption at the border - an extra 5 bucks or so - they were probably trying to drum up business.
If the KSR travel agents do it for the standard $20, go for it, thats great. If it's $25, no major advantage. If its more than that tell them to jam it, while making pointed remarks about corruption. |

| I've heard there are a lot of scams going on with those "cheap" KSR to Angkor buses. For example the bus breaks down in the middle of the night and they take you to a guesthouse (who are in on the scam). Flights are so cheap that it'll probably work out not much more expensive flying and you save yourself 2 days. The best option is probably Air Asia from Bangkok to Phnom Penh and then one of the $4 buses to Siem Reap which only take about 5 hours on a decent road. Bangkok Airways from Bangkok to Siem Reap is most convenient. |
