|
|
I'm heading off to Japan for a short while and will need to exchange won (about 2.3m won) to Japanese Yen
Is this a good time to exchange? I know a short while back the the Yen was very weak but don't know how it is now.
I have US dollars also but I think exchanging the Korean Won would be better? Is that correct?
Also, if you have a link to the latest exchange rates (won/USD to the Yen) that would be much appreciated
And, where would be the best place to exchange? the usual banks?
Thanks in advance |

Hi There,
From previous experience I recommend getitng it exhanged at the bank before you leave for a better rate. Just ask for 'en' and 'eel bon don' (japanese money). Always found once you are on the way it becomes a rip. I don't know the current exchange, sorry.
Cheers,

It is difficult to exchange won to yen in Japan and you WILL get a REALLY BAD rate. (20% less than changing it in Korea)
Change it here or use your plastic / credit cards. |

| Change more than you think you will need before you go. Getting money in Japan is difficult. Most banks won't take your ATM card (I mean your home card, not Korean. Your Koean card won' work anywhere outside of Korea probably). You have to go to the central post office and use the ATM there. Major pain in the ass. YOu can always change it back at your local Korean bank if you don't end up spending all your yen. |

| does anyone know the reason why its difficult to pull out cash from ATMS with a foreign card? in Hong Kong and Korea I can do it so easily and I thought Japan would be the same? |
