James Tiberious.

How could anyone not love that middle name.

That's what my middle name is, only it's spelled Tiberius.

Kirk was zany, kitsch, hammy and refreshingly un-PC........so yeah....a great character.......but if you're in any way a sci-fi fan then you will pretty easily see that The Next Generation was better made, smarter (more 'science') and more thought provoking. I think a vote for Kirk is an ironic vote for the kitsch and cheesiness which we all enjoyed about the original series....................

..............so my vote goes to Picard because I'm a bit more serious about my sci-fi.

Next Generation was smarter but it was a relatively PC show in a PC era. The original series was groundbreaking for its time.

How exactly was it PC?

Wouldn't you say it was a PC show? I don't mean it as an insult as all its messages of racial equality, acceptance of disabilities, feminism, abandonment of greed, money, and capitalism, changing of mission from military to exploration and including families on board, and addition of Worf, who in the original series would have been an enemy, are all bad things. Just that it was much more a product of the time, while the original series was ahead of its time. I mean which was more shocking, Kirk kissing Uhura or Riker falling for an alien hermaphrodite (or whatever it was)?

The reason I asked is because I never thought of the show in terms of its PC level. It was just a fun show to watch. Uhura and Kirk...I wasn't alive when that aired so perhaps I lack the appropriate context to be shocked by it? How do I explain..? Not everything can be ground breaking, I guess.

Damn it, now you've gone and confused me Laughing

Well no, it's too late to be shocked by Kirk and Uhura. But it was at the time.

Ugh, too many sketchy variables there. The producers of LOST? The guy from Heroes? I just don't know. Hopefully Leonard Nimoy will through his weight around and make sure it doesn't suck as badly as the Star Trek movies Shatner directed did.

Kirk, I can't even believe this is up for debate.

Another memorable occasion when me and The Joo Ripster agree on something ... itawonguy was right, getting it on with green-skinned ladies, that's the ultimate in desegregation.

In the future will they accuse ESL Teachers To The Galaxy as being afflicted with Green Fever? If so, then so it must be.

Cool

It sure as hell wasn't Captain Corea.

But Earl Grey Hot! And the borg sh!t owned... Also the bald head granted him access into secret zones that Kirk's peacock torso would never allow. The third I'm not familiar with. Maybe I'm too old.

But Picard for sure. But Geordie's visor is gay, and Data is a transvestite.

Heh. Wink

hahaha, looks like you're still sore about getting schooled in your own thread. Schooled so bad you had to erase everything and now see fit to try to throw personal jabs my way on different threads.

But hey, keep it coming. It only makes you look like more of a tool.
