I was advised by my recruiter to use the services of DHL, fair enough I contact DHL and prepaid for their services on a saturday to collect my transcripts and other stuff you send to the recruiters to be processed, at 3pm today they turned up and I invited the courier bloke in (some little scouser, about 50 years old) so I went upstairs to get the second label that he wanted an when I came down the stupid fucking cunt had open the sealed transcript.

'What are you doing?' I said (nearly shouted)

'We have to open everything'

'Not the transcripts, they have to be sealed or else they are invalid'

'Oh no, with DHL we have to open everything includng letters'

I just threw the old *beep* out of the house because I was just going to lose my temper with the cunt. I got on the phone to DHL and they insisted that opening all letters, documents and parcels within a consignment is
mandotory and is worldwide.

I have another sealed transcript on me and it costs a fiver for 2 sealed transcripts so it is no big deal but I think while the Korean immigration insist on sealed transcripts then I think it is only fair to warn potential
teachers that DHL will tear open your sealed transcripts making them invalid thus making DHL useless and a waste of 43 quid. ($86 dollars)

Could a mod make this a sticky 'don't use DHL because they are a bunch of stupid fucking cunts'

Are you tallking about sealed university envelope within DHL envelope?

If not, have you tried asking your university to seal your transcript in their own university envelope and then put the sealed transcript inside the DHL envelope?

By the way, DHL is better than FedEx.

I used to use FEDEX a lot and they're usually pretty reliable. In my experience, there was only one monumental cock-up where they lost an important package of mine in transit in Anchorage. Once, they failed to deliver a Xmas package I'd sent (within the US) and there was a 2-3 day cushion for error as well. One the plus side, they refunded the entire shipping cost because of their tardiness and delivered the package.

I've used DHL several times and no problems at all. Usually you should be worried about DHL or customs opening your sealed envelopes at transit points -- i.e. not at the pick up or shipping counter stage.

The DHL guy recently stuck my credit card in my unlocked Korean mailbox and it went missing. I asked him why he hadn't left it with the security guards and he said because they weren't at their post. Guy handed me the cost of shipping on the spot and offered to pay the credit card issuance fee. There was none so I didn't take his money.

I could tell he really didn't want me to report him to his boss for being an idiot.

DHL is terrible in the U.S. I had problems with them about three times when I was stateside. I wouldn't imagine they'd be any different when handling international packages.

I don't get why schools require us to use DHL? The school that hired me told me to send all my documents with DHL but I really didn't want to because a. it would cost me over $80 to send it and b. the nearest DHL was a half hour drive from my house. So I just went 'screw this' and sent everything through my nearest post office at a grand total of $11. No one has complained.

I nearly had this same problem with DHL, Bejarano.

It costed me 53 quid, and my transcript cost 20 quid. When the guy came he checked the envelope and asked what was in the sealed one. Transcripts. And asked if they could open it to check it. 'No chance' that's why it's got the seal and has tape on it.

'Well the koreans will probably open it'

'That's no good, it has to remained sealed'

'We can't guarantee that'

5 minutes later. 'Ok I'll write on the envelope that they should x-ray it'

'Fine, Thanks'

Herre gud, why not mention that earlier. I'd probably have had less problems trying to send a envelopes with 'human kidneys, DO NOT BEND' written on it.

If anything about this had been void, that would have been 70 quid down the drown. It got there in three days though. Although it said on the website that it had been delivered to Daegu, and not Hongseong (about 150 miles aprt) another heart attack.

Surely this happens a lot for people sending documents abroad. Why don't they have policy for this? Would I be covered if they goofed it up? I doubt it.

I have just sent my stuff to Korea, I used Royal Mail, cost me about �5.60 in total, the service was called international signed for. I sent it on a thursday and it arrived by the next tuesday. No way was I gonna pay �40+ when I can get the same service for �5!

I too had problems with DHL. Maybe it's a UK thing.

I used Fedex and they were fine.

DHL are special bus window-lickers.
