They've noticed. They've been calling out names of missing people and doing random checks to find out who's been skipping.

My orientation is taking place this week. I turned up on the first morning, met a native teacher who taught at a theme park we attended this summer.

At the train station, there were loads of natives. A bus took us to the country club. I signed my name for a room, I asked at the help desk if I could play pool, they said that was reserved only for club members.

The room I got had 3 separate beds. I then decided I didn't want to attend any of it.

I jokingly told the native teacher I had met before, I was going and the official reason was because I felt ill.

I haven't been there since Monday and I am glad.

If anybody bothers to follow up why I wasn't there, I will give the sickness excuse and point out I signed my name at the orientation once, and attended what I could.

If nobody notices, then that's ok too.

So what's the point of this post? What, you want a pat on the back?? Rolling Eyes

You could have stayed in a cheap hotel close to the resort. I believe there is at least one in the area that charges around 30,000 per night. A lot of people complain about this oreintation, but I think it can be a good opportunity to meet people, share ideas, get free food for 4 days, and maybe even learn something about the job you've come here to do.
OP, "as an introvert", who were you planning on playing pool with? Would you have played solo, as the idea of people who speak the same language as you is so offensive?

edit - forgot to mention, you are also getting paid for the time (working hours) you are there.

Yes, and they're also reading ESL cafe and specifically mentioning threads. So running around bragging about how you're lying is possibly quite stupid, no?

Three months, that makes you an expert.

The orientation is great. If not the actual training, its to see the circus of people.

I loved watching the retards complain about their contract that they already signed, or the idiots who got too drunk and passed out in the front lawn.

To me this is why korea has many problems finding gooid teachers. Why sign in in the first place if you weren't going to attend. I gather you are one of those robot teachers where the kis just follow your boring lecture. The kids will eat you up if you are an introvert.

Get on the next plane out of here. I feel sorry for the kids korea pays a lot of money for you to be here and you can't even go to a simple orientation.

And do tell us. Just how are they going to know which UK-Pakistani who didn't attend the meetings he is? Ha! Joke's on you.

You sound pretty judgmental yourself, especially considering....

I dislike the snotty nosed, arrogant, condescending attitude on this forum, which suggests some teachers in Korea are lesser people, just because they lack maturity and aren't supposedly as dedicated as other posters on here.

I came here not to attend an orientation where other so-called professionals, just get drunk and trash the place.

I can't be bothered to attend the orientation because it sounds like complete rubbish. I won't be teaching there.

FWIW, I think teachers that lack maturity are lesser people than me.

I know for a fact they ARE being VERY vigilant about the situation. They have learned a lot from the past workshops...and I've been very helpful to them.
Rest assured there is little chance no one other than this lazy parasite named "fromthuk" who came and left early.
Also, Mr. Parasite, rest assured they'll be looking for you...especially after you were kind enough to post.

I'm such a bad friend to fromtheuk, using his account behind his back, pretending to be him, just to get him in trouble.

I may have got him into trouble, and the sad thing is he doesn't even know it.

Oh well....he'll be able to explain how he was genuinely sick and that his nasty friend played a cruel joke on him.

I suppose he'll choose his friends more carefully in future.
