The salsa class that I'm doing for free is still 'on' for the Sunday, September 16th, at Buena Vista Salsa Club. I got'em my pic and bio yesterday.
They tell me they're going to promote it amongst their clientele too. That group is 99.99% Korean so if you want to meet some Koreans who like to salsa dance, this would probably be a good way and place to do it.
In case you don't know it, Hongdae (where the club is) has 5 good salsa clubs. Once we get a group of people who know their casino rueda basics (which will take a couple of hours or so of classes) then we'll be able to travel around and 'swarm' all the clubs and have a grand ol' time! |

It might. So what?
My post had a purpose. You might want to check Amazon.com for some books on real humor. |

Hi,
I love salsa! Spent years doing it in New York and have just arrived in Korea (just a few days ago). I'd love to find other fans and learn where to go dancing here. I live in Suwon, (and I miss the clave).
Thanks |

Hi Lisa:
Just reading your other message here.
If you're NYC qualified, you're going to love it here. I dance on1 myself as do most of the people here too but there is a sizable contingent of 'on 2' types.
You'll find that most of the dancers here don't have a very good feel for the actual rhythm and count but they are very good technically...they love to do their patterns. Like Taekwondo or something.
The clubs are very very good too...much better than Houston where I'm from. And the music is also very good.
The cover charges usually include a drink. And in your case, since you're a foreigner, you'll probably find that once the Korean guys discover you that you'll have guys to dance with all night long And the girls will love you too if you're into 'girlie talk'. The girls here are really into fashion...as you probably know already.
Best regards,

|
|
Hi Casineros, casineras, and wannabees:
I sorta have a list of the calls that I want to try to cover in our first casino rueda class Sunday. This actually isn't the first time I've done this and it usually happens that the chemistry of every class is different. You never know how many experienced or semi-experienced students/dancers you'll get or how many totally novices you'll get. I'm hopeful that we won't have too many people who've never danced anything.
Regardless, the show must go on and here's a list of the calls I plan on teaching in somewhat the order I plan on teaching them:
rhythm drill
coordination drill
Basic steps:
Son Montuno
Guapea
Pa' al medio
Arriba
Abajo
Llevela abajo
Exhibela
Exhibela doble
taro
taro y no le sigues
dame
Suena
dame con dos
dame con una
dile que no
enchufla
enchufla doble
enchufla que no
enchufla mentira
festival de enchufla
dame dos
dame con dos
dame dos con dos
vacila
Oops! Gotta get out of the school office so they can set the security alarm. I'll finish this at home!
