I'd like to watch a good horror movie in a DVD bang tonight. Can anybody recommend a scary one? I heard the Japanese movies are scarier than the Korean ones so can anybody recommend a good japanese movie that is probably available in most dvd bangs here?

If you can find it, watch The Door. It's a "suspense drama," as the Japanese call it. The movie's dialog is all in Japanese with no subtitles; however, that doesn't matter. There's very little dialog and what there is, it's easy enough to understand what they're saying from other cues in the scene.

A Tale of Two Sisters is a pretty good Korean horror movie.

The original Juon and Ring are the traditional style of Japanese horror, which I enjoy a lot more than the Scream-style slasher gorefest.

I'll also throw out Kakashi (Scarecrow) and Spiral (tangentially related to the Ring trilogy).

A little more gore in the latter two movies though, and probably NOT available in Korea. The former two are available in Korea, but not uncut. The Ring movies especially have been heavily edited for Korean distribution.

I seriously doubt that DVD bangs here will have any Takashi Miike movies, folks.

if you have 2.5 hours to kill i'd watch "살인의추억" - memories of murder - korean film about a serial killer in hwaseong city during the 80s.

it is one of my favorite movies, and it has the scariest scene i've ever seen in a movie, hands down.
