trubadour: check this thread. It pretty much has all the details. Are you living near Jeonju? If not, the important thing is to buy your train tickets now. There is pretty much only standing room left and even those are going fast.

CrashBang: I still have to book the shelter. But as for what to bring: you can rent blankets/sleeping bags so pretty much what you'd bring on a dayhike.

I'm also up for camping at the base of some of the mountains but I get the feeling I may be the only one that has gear Smile So that's not written in stone.

i keep meaning to call home and have my gear sent. but im avoiding it cuz i know itll be a 700 hour conversation explaining to mom what i want done, as well as a major expense

heck, i think it would be nicer sleeping up high this time of year. so fracking hot even at night this time of year

Here is a possible itinerary. It's open to suggestions/changes

Saturday: Meet at Jeonju train station noonish. Head by bus to Moaksan Provincial Park (40 minutes). Find us a campsite or minbak (apparently free camping). Go for a hike (about 3 hours).

Sunday: Head over to Naejansan National Park (an hour or two). Hike (about 6 hours). Spend the night there either camping or minbak.

Monday: Deogyusan National Park. Travel over (maybe 2 hours). Hike (about 3 or 4 hours I think). There is an option of staying in the shelter here. I need to check it out more. There are also camping and minbaks here.

Tuesday: Go over to Maisan Provincial Park. Hike for a while. I'm not sure if you can stay at the base of the mountain or not. It's a bit unclear in my guidebook. So if not, we can head over to Jeonju when we're done.

Wednesday: head home.

went to jiri-san this past weekend. as always, some brutal hiking, with trails that go straight up and straight down (i dont think ive seen a switchback yet), with plenty of rugged ground underfoot. hit the trail at hwaem-sa around 7:30 am sunday morn, hiked up to nogodan mountain hut (about 4 and a half hours), then to piagol mountain hut and jikjeon village. not quite 9 hours on trail, plus road-walking to and from the trailheads. nearly killed some people when i sent a large rock tumbling from a rock pile that i was climbing at nogodan pass. came home very tired and went to bed early

Hi all!

So I realize Chuseok is over, but everyone that posted on this topic seems to really be into hiking. I love hikiing, but unfortunately alot of people around my area aren't.

I have no problems going out by myself, but it's always nice to meet new people and have some company. Plus, most people would know their way around better than me.

So if anyone is up for some weekend camping/hiking or anything let me know. I live in Suwon, but I dont mind travelling far!

Hope to hear from some of you soon!

I'm generally up for hiking, too, but my weekends fill up quickly, and I don't check Dave's regularly. Send me a PM if you organize anything.

crashbang, you and I met at Songnisan last weekend.

Odyssey...I periodically organize hiking/travelling adventures for friends. If you pm me your email, I'll add you to my list. Anyone else for that matter too...I'm in Cheonan so it's not so far from Suwon/Seoul.
