My director told me " Your students are boring, you had better wear these", He then handed me a set of Micky mouse ears. |

If that's true you should try to get him saying it on camera. That really needs to be posted on Youtube. |

Leave.
Tell him he's boring and you'll wear them if he wears them out on the town. |

Better than the clown suit I had to wear at my last hagwon. |

The proper response, IMHO, to that directive is, "I quit." |

"My students are stupid, spoiled little Emporer muma boys - whining to get attention and more snacks. Perhaps I should use this:" (teacher hands Director Let's Go#1). |

Thats the problem with hogwons, they are all about making money. If you put on the ears the kids would be happy for a day then go home and tell their parents what happened. Then the parents would complain that you arent being professional and the hogwon owner will blame it on you.

Idiot. Tell him the difference btw bored and boring and if he's too much of an idiot to distinguish btw the two then he shouldn't use it. |

how old are the kids? If they are like 3rd graders and younger then the mickey mouse ears would probably work. |

That's ridiculous. They are there to learn and the teacher is there to teach not entertain. My kids get bored sometimes too. I try to make the games more interesting but that's it. I'm not putting on ears or clown shoes. |

That's hillarious.
Maybe your director trying to tell you to lighten up and not take things so seriously. Go back into class, relax and try to enjoy teaching. Show some passion and interest and maybe your students will follow.
If you are already doing such things (honestly) then maybe it is time to have a heart to heart with your director. If that fails, make plans for looking for another job. |

My director at a hagwon wanted me to wear a doctor's smock. Really he wanted it to be an English hospital. Too much watching Dr. House. And jut like House I said no and they said ok only the Koreans will wear them. What are you an English clown? You have a 4 year degree that cost thousands of dollars in the US. Not peanuts. IMHO I would say no and stand firm then if they try to push it tell them to find a new teacher I'm sure they will say sorry and it will be forgotten. |
