|
|
| My director has ordered me to teach 2 hours a week at an elementry school to promote his hagwon. One of the Korean teachers here has a second job teaching at the elementry school one day a week and now they want me to teach it while the Korean teacher gets paid and I do it as part of my contract. I called immigration and found out it is illegal for them to have me teach outside of the hagwon. Does anyone have any thoughts on this... |

If you don't want to do it say no.
Simple.
I believe that both you and your employer will have to agree to you working outside the Hogwan, then you'll have to clear it with immigration. If you don't want to do it, refuse. |

Head on down to Immigration with your boss, sign the paperwork that authorizes you to work at a second location, and go on with your day. Problem solved.
That part about "not getting paid" isn't true. You've just been working for less than you agreed to, and now you're havng your hours boosted closer to what you agreed to teach. |

| Well, when I told my boss that I called immigration, he blew his top as he afraid of being caught for al the other illegal things he is doing. I simply told him, I was not interested in doing anything illegal in Korea and that was that. Thanks for your input! |
