Canada is successful? Give me a break. It's overtaxed, over-regulated and irrelevat.

The total impass the world finds itself in, in the Middle east is a tribute to that fct tht there are no srculat answers to religious questions.

Hottest economy in the G8, no budget deficit for over 8 years. Universal health care, parity (almost) with he US dollar, massive employment insurance surplus, NOT in Iraq, no real terrorism threat, no social unrest, lowest unemployment in 30+ years. TSX higher than the DOW.

Geez things are terrible.

If our gay hero Hite were from a truly successful country he wouldn't be living in Korea. I'm here to ecape Canada's taxes, and I'll bet he is too.

People should get married, if only in a civil ceremony.

This business of having "life partners" which is catching on in the U.S. too is yet further evidence of a disrespect for traditional social institutions and an unwillingness to participate in the social contract.

For someone who lives in Korea by choice, it must really gall you OH that the overwhelmingly majority of Koreans (and Asians) need no reminder that sometimes social obligations outweigh individual perogatives.

But then you'd probably relish a a return to Caligula's era.

If "social obligation outweigh individual perogatives [sic]" in Korea, then why is the divorce rate so damn high? That doesn't seem traditional in any way, shape or form.

And I agree with you. Bring back traditional marriage! Dowries, women being properties of their husband, spousal abuse! YES! While we're at it, get rid of birth control and universal suffrage. And hell, while we're talking tradition, you know what we really need again? Slavery. Slavery is where it's at. And kingdoms! I want a king! All hail the king!

Medicare is not collapsing, but nice try. Is it changing, yes, collapsing no. Only redneck tw@ts from Alberta are excited at trying to get rid of it, but its going no where.

Gun control, is wanted by everyone outside of rural Canada (THE MAJORITY) and the police want it, why do you think Harper hasn't gotten rid of it???????

And you still can't debate the smoking hot economic numbers.

I came here to do a year and pay off my student debt, which I did (unlike our poor American brethren who have to do 10 years here) and I fell in love with the place. I always had a job in Canada and I could go back and get a job and be successful in any city in Canada at any point.

But there's one thing I'm not, thats a bitter angry young guy, pissed at Canada for not giving me all the things it gave my parents. Suck it up you weenie, you can always go to the US!

Well, I wont worry too much. Soon as hydrogen or something else comes along Alberta (and the morons who call it "their" land) will be back to poor dirt farmers and Japanese tourist whores.

Did I harken back to feudal times in my OP? I don't think so. But of course it's convenient for you to portray me as reactionary rather than address the issue I raised.

OH:

Now that you've given the pom-poms a rest and packed away your tutu, care to explain why you left the Land of Dudley Doright for Korea? If it's so marvelous, I'd think they'd have to drag you on the plane kicking and screaming.

You're comparing apples and oranges. The U.S. has 300 million people; Canada a tenth as many. Our multicultural diversity is much greater. Further, thanks to Americans with your kind of mindset, we now welcome a permanent underclass of illegal aliens.

Canada plays almost no role on the world stage and you know it. Despite Iraq, the USA long ago assumed the burden of a superpower. You have the luxury to benefit from that role without a proportionate sacrifice. Oh, sure, I know they're Canadian troops in Afghanistan, but I'm talking many decades of global strategy. Oh, and by the way, Canada did send its military into Vietnam.

I never said Canada is a bad place, or worse than the U.S. The fact that you felt the need to ballyhoo it only shows yet again how insecure most of you Maple Leaf standard bearers are on this forum.

I also indicated that civil marriage is o.k. That would include gays like you. It's part of a social contract. That's my primary concern, which you obviously (or is it conveniently?) missed.

WHY DID YOU LEAVE THE US AND MOVE TO CHINA?
