I've been out of college for a few years now, and the CYA ethic seems to have gotten worse. Or maybe it's that I've traded "up" by working for publicly traded companies. Even the CEOs get on conference calls and swear, "We're doing great, you're doing great, just add these fifteen tasks to your already overloaded work schedule," and yada yada yada. I've been at a step or two above entry level for the last three years or so and it seems to get worse the higher up the ladder you go. People making 50k are more worried about losing a job that people making 30k, etc.
That's why I'm coming to SK. It couldn't be any worse than working in the states. |

Yes, I did notice that. When I was making 20-30K a year on the way up, I never really feared lay off. But when you start making real money, you become a target. No surprise. When a company is looking to cut, they start looking at the big middle, so the 50K+ level. |
