I met a friend from Daecheon over the weekend and he said there have been a couple of incidents there involving Koreans beating up foreigners. I'll spare you the details but he advised that after midnight it might be wise to stay in a group of people. I guess this rings true in every country and every city but it's worth saying IMHO.

I'm sure most of you can take care of yourself but i thought i'd let you know.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Was it after the foreigner talked loudly about wanting Korean puntang and Korean men having small weeners?

Did the guy simply read some of the trolling thread on this website and relay them to you?

Or was it a genuine, uncalled for attack?

Details do nothing for us and your warning won't stop a soul from going out.

Spot on. A blanket comment like the one posted by the OP is far from helpful.

Hmm...what a charming, well-educated person you appear to be. Do us all a favour and go home.

Do you mean the beach where the big mud festival is held, or is it a typo for the big city in Chungchongnam-do?

Of course you will. There are none.

It was Daejeon.

To the haters: i'm not going to defend my post. You can either heed my advice or ignore it. But bear in mind - I have nothing to gain by posting something that's untrue.

I'm not going to respond to any further replies as i think it's a waste of my time.

Next time:

1. Get the town/city name right.

2. Accept criticism - you, and nobody else for that matter, is perfect.

3. Appreciate reflection which can be achieved by reading the opinions of others.

Jeez, over-reaction to the OP's post? Just a bit? At worst, it was too vague, but intention was good. Seemed like decent enough advice to me.

Why are you giving him grief? It was well intentioned. We all know he meant Daejeon, but who is that sad that they have to pedantically point out the mistake?

Seriously, get a grip.

Pedantically point out the mistake? Look at Jaganath69's post. He is a genuine guy on this forum, and even he didn't know what city the OP meant.

I didn't attack you personally, OP, just your post. If it was intended to be helpful, then thanks, but as butlerian said, use criticism constructively.

And I didn't think of Daejeon, I thought of Daechon beach or some odd remote city I'd never heard of.

The road to Daecheon is paved with good intentions. There is enough scare mongering, white noise, cheap talk, and trolling on this board to sink the Bismark. If anyone is going to post a thread like this, it needs a considerable amount of elaboration in order to be judged reliably. A second or third hand rumor isn't going to help us.

Don't buy a Japanese car in Korea. I have met several Koreans who have told me they like to key them.

You have been warned.
