Hurrah! This is my first post.
Anywayz, you guys know anything about Elite hagwon? The U.S. branches have a pretty good rep. How do Korean natives percieve the Korean branches? I ask because I have an upcoming phone interview with the mokdong branch. In the case that I get the green light, how much bread should I expect?
Now that I have your attention, here's a request. Can you guys appraise my value in Korea? Here's a little bout myself. I graduated from Penn, an Ivy League. I have experience teaching SAT. I worked as a producer and journalist. I'm applying to numerous grad schools at the moment. I'm a Korean-American male. I speak fluent Korean. I'm 5'11", 165 lbs, straight, a good cook, a fan of the Wonder Years.
Thanx all. Please lend a helping hand. I'm a stranger to this game. Very Happy

I've never heard of Elite, so I'll assume it's a regular hakwon. If true, the job is worth W2.2 million a month (W26,400,000/year).

The bad news: Korea does not particularly care what education and experience a person has. The generic hakwon pays the same for someone fresh out of school with a degree in an unrelated field as for someone with an advanced degree and years of experience. Another piece of unpleasantness, as an ethnic Asian, a good many schools won't want you.

The good news: There are some jobs that pay more. Those jobs tend to stress TOEIC grammar lessons. IF you are bilingual, there are also jobs that pay more.

Good luck.

Which Hagwons in Seoul are reknowned? Can you guys name a few? I owe you one if you guys help out. I'm serious. I'll take you guys out for drinks if I get a lucrative job. Except, I'm not a big fan of soju. It kills you the day after. I know it's routine in Korea to say something along the lines of "It's soju time!" You know, like the American equivalent: "It's Miller Time!" or "Zima Time!" Cool

The Mokdong branch has a good rep, for sure.

PM me if you have more specific questions.
