I haven't been to Korea in years. The Korea that I remember was all about alcohol; food; and other activities that revolved around alcohol or food. I did some sight-seeing. That lasted about three days. I visit relatives. That lasted about a day. I did some clothes shopping at subways and cheap street stalls. It was fun. That is, until I wore them at home and looked at myself in the mirror. So, I ask y'all. What is there to do in Korea? I ask only bc I'm debating whether I should spend a year there. Btw, I'm not a non-Korean hating on Korea so please don't pour the haterade on me. That means you, very patriotic boorgunangma Korean person. |

So you dislike Korea and you're asking us if you should come here? I'm gonna go with probably not on this. |

Even when you were here before, there was plenty to do. I don't drink and I do a lot.
- Church activities
- Go to the library
- Go to the museum
- Go to the cinema
- Explore another neighborhood
- Join a college club (Chess, Taekweondo, Photography)
- Learn ballroom dancing (aka "Sports Dance")
- Learn to play baduk and jangki and play against the guys in the parks
- Visit some of the Buddhist temples here
- Check the bulletin boards at your local stores to see what's going on in your area.

Oh, I forgot. I've been told that guys like to pay money for the honey there. Bbang-chika-whao-whaoo... Btw, if you've been away from the states for a while. You'll have no clue what "Bbang-chika..." is. I hate how you lose touch with pop culture just being away for a few months from a region. |

Getting away from the boozey and foody stuff is essential. Go on trips and meet new people, Korean and Western. No surprise that the most unhappy expats in Korea are the ones who pile on the calories every weekend. |

I try to get outdoors as much as possible. The thing is, when koreans do it, it involves gimbab and soju. I do a lot of mountain biking and see tons of bikers all over the roads, but never on the trails. I asked my friend about this and he said that most of them (buty not all) get all geared up in spandex to ride to a soju tent a few miles down the road. |

Speaking of eating and drinking, I had dinner at that Korean restaurant behind the Walker hill Sheraton last night. Best damn Korean food I've had in a loooooooong time brothers. Beef was so delicious, it was melting in my mouth. Private room with a big picture glass window and a great view of the Han...spensive tho...but worth every penny.
Wish I could afford to eat like that every day! |
