So I got a job offer from a company to teach business English to its employees (part time job). Then (about 5 minutes after the first offer) they offered me a full time position at their company, teaching English half the day and helping with business proposals in English (basically editing and proofreading) the other half of the day. I like this idea. But their idea about visas and contracts is a little weird. At first, they wanted to hire me on an "at will" sort of basis, but as far as I understand, you can't hire a foreign worker "at will" in Korea. You need an employment contract in order to get your C4 or E2 visa. They want me to teach/proofread for 1 month and see how it goes, and then they'll decide whether to hire me full time for teaching or proofreading or both or neither. So I said, I'd need a 1 month contract to obtain a C4, and if they wanted to keep me longer, another contract for however long (is there a minimum on this? I think the maximum is 2 years?) so I can apply for an E2.
Am I correct? Is there another way to do this? |

C4 or E7.
E2 is for teachers at LICENCED educational facilities or public schools. |
