I'm doing a lesson tomorrow (50mins) at university based on the differences between families in Kore and the UK. Can anyone provide any suggestions of differences and also any activities? My plan is to make a powerpoint showing the key differences and explaining key tersm, such as "nuclear" and "extended", and then giving the students questions to ask each other about their families with example answers.

Please guys, let's not turn this into a Korea-bashing thread. There's plenty of them elsewhere on this forum.

well i don't know about the UK, but a difference i've observed is that the children pretty much HAVE to listen to everything their parents tell them. they're completely obedient, and when they're not the parents will pretty much disown them. there's a lot more respect for the parents. they have a lot more authority than American parents do.

In the UK children have curfews during elementary school and can do as they please once their in their twenties. In Korea its the opposite.

I'm not from the UK but I am from a former colony of the UK.

I don't address my older brother as Hyong. I just call him by his name.

Usually, everybody in the family has the same last name.

In my family, Mother does not wake up at dawn to make breakfast. In fact, I think it's been about 15 years since she cooked anything.
