Hello,

Wondering if anyone would know first hand what one would expect to pay a bi-lingual Kyopo in Korea...either MBA or biz major, perhaps a bit of work experience, and hopefully some hagwon experience as well...not for a teaching job though, for more of an entry level management position.

Any input would be helpful!

Okay,

I'll tell you what I know.

I have a brother in law who is Korean and speaks three languages, he is entry level manager with a BA (thx to his languages) and earns just over 3M a month.

Biggest downside is, he has to travel once a month for a week or two.

But i think he got lucky.

Thanks for sharing your brother-in-law's experience...I'm guessing the salary of a bit over 3m is all he gets (no housing or any other types of extras)?

And, yeah, I should have also mentioned 100% fluent Koreans, not just Kyopos...but both English and Korean at native levels. Thanks!

Keep it coming!

Jason

A bilingual friend of mine who is Korean but raised overseas got offered a starting salary of around 56 million won PA on graduating here. However he got hauled in for his military service and missed the opportunity. Dunno if this will help.

Depends where you received your MBA. Secondly, unless you're scouted or recruited directly by a company expect to get paid peanuts.

Soliciting an employer versus "solicited" by an employer is a major difference. The latter gives you more leverage to negotiate perks like housing, car, salary, etc.

Good luck and always refuse the 1st offer.

Wow, a dime a dozen! That's great! Business is going to go well this year!

Perhaps people are mistakenly thinking I am a Kyopo wondering how much I should be paid. In fact, I am asking if I wanted to hire someone, what I should expect to pay.

I am not so interested in what school they graduated from, but more that they have a decent grasp of business and are motivated to work. And, the other part is being bilingual and having a good understanding of both Korean and Western attitudes and beliefs.

Thanks!

Jason

It all depends what type of employee you're looking for. The upside of hiring locals is their subservience, work ethic, and high tolerance for frequent lambastings. The tradeoff is that most think one-dimensionally as it relates to "general business" affairs - IMHO.

Well he only spend 6 years in Belgium. He is perfectly fluent in Three languages as well.

And yes, they hired him for his knowledge of Western cultures, and some technical skills (programming) he learned at College. He became the Sales representative you could say, but with a more technical background.

This was also 2 years ago, situation has changed a little for him (for the better).

Where did your candidate get the MBA?
