i don't know what pushes the boundaries of good taste more... continuing to sell cigarettes to people or playing with a topic like 9.11 like this.

American tobacco companies.

American tragedy.

Would make sense in an American newspaper. But from Dubai, I can't help thinking that it's a small jab at Uncle Sam.

Not that I give a *beep* really anyway, all's fair in love and war.

yeah i had just woken up. i guess the fact i was shocked by the ad was one thing... but not shocked by team america... "that's 9-11.. times 340!" is weird.

i guess i'm more considering how the average nibnob will react to it, as if 9.11 is some kinda sacred cow you're not supposed to touch unless you're rudy guiliani.

As I have stated elsewhere:

USA losses since 9/11: Around 4,000+

Arab community losses: Estimated at over 1,000,000.

Who is losing?

That's quite clearly an anti-smoking ad, isn't it? Smoking kills more people than 9/11 did, so....

It's in questionable taste, but won't have the same impact to a readership in Dubai that it will for Americans.

yeah i found the place where it was linked from and it said it had exceeded bandwidth restrictions.

i think what i had forgotten to mention is that the ad ran on 9.11.2007. perhaps a dig at uncle sam, but why does he harbor terrorists like philip morris inside his borders?
