It's the rainy season but usually you'll get extreme downpours that flood the streets for a couple of hours and then it's clear for the rest of the day. It's a great time to be in Thailand for the nightlife because there are fewer tourists but not so good for the beaches I guess (I wouldn't know as I'm not a beach person). |

^ What he said. If you're going for the beaches and islands, then it's the worst time to go. But there will be fewer tourists during the September-October period, which is good. If you go down south it will rain for an hour then stop for 2, then rain for another hour -- it's on and off, but sometimes it's more on than off. |

September is a great time to go to Thailand.
Fewer tourists and cheaper hotel rates.
The afternoon showers are refreshing. Sun comes out after an hour or two of rain, so it's nothing to really worry about.
Many people feel Thailand is best visited during the rainy season.
May - November on the Andaman side (Phuket, Phi Phi) is rainy season. |

yeah Im all booked and paid for.. Ill get my paycheck 2 days before I leave... Not sure if that is a good or bad thing ㅋㅋ
Can anyone recommend what to do about money... just use international credit card to do cash advance? travellers cheques?
also can you use Korean atm cards over there to withdraw money?
I have Woori and Kookmin (KB)...
really dont want to carry much cash for obvious reasons...

I brought all cash because I wasn't sure if my international debit card from Nonghyup would work. It did, so next time I'll just use that. I kept the cash in an envelope and hid it in my luggage or left it with reception in a safety deposit box. |

Definitely change your money in Thailand or use a debit card. The government currency controls mean you get a better rate in Thailand. Check the difference between the offshore rates on xe.com and the onshore rates on the Bangkok Bank website. |

I just spent four days in Phuket (Sept. 13-16) and it rained and rained and rained. As in it rained CONSTANTLY. That aside, I wasn't too impressed with Phuket, especially with the higher prices for beer and grub. |

I can't speak for Woori, but my KB international ATM card doesn't work in Thailand. My KEB card, on the other hand, works just fine. |
