I'm glad you asked this question, Jeju Rocks.
I'm glad you asked this question because this is precisely what I'm talking about. Things are falling apart.
What is this world coming to when a person can't go to bed at night knowing that his lawn chairs and mops are safe? I remember a time when a law abiding, God fearing person could leave his or her lawn chair on the lawn, and rest assured that it would be there when he or she woke up in the morning.
Not anymore.
I know how you feel. I once had a lawn ornament stolen. It had been in my family for generations. Even though his skin was of a different color, the little fellow was practically part of the family. Some of my best friends are lawn ornaments, but I should add that I wouldn't want my daughter marrying one. Would you?
So I can imagine how you feel. I feel your pain. Your pain is my pain. My pain is your pain. Not that I have anything against people who actually like pain, mind you.
Without mops and lawn chairs, where would we be? Imagine, for a moment, a world without mops, without lawn chairs. It's unimaginable.
But if my opponent were to be elected, that's exactly the sort of world you would have to live in. My opponent is opposed to mops, he doesn't believe in lawn chairs.
He believes everyone should buy fancy French vacuum cleaners, Japanese carpet cleaners and, please forgive the language, chaise lounges.
I say a mop was good enough for my mother, a mop was good enough for her mother and her grandmother, and so a plain, honest cloth mop is good enough for my wife and your wife.
Yes, I am glad you asked this question, Jeju. May I call you Jeju? As a matter of fact, my staff and I have been working on a four-point plan, as we speak, to address precisely this problem. It will be presented in a position paper I am sure you will be interested in reading.
In the meantime, may I suggest locking up your mops and lawn chairs, at least until I am elected. Then we will see a new day, a new order, a world safe for the lawn chairs of the world.
Vote for me. I promise to mop up the mess in our nation's capital. |

On behalf of the faithful Dave's readership and poster...ship, I am pleased to be the first to commend the OP for finally coming clean, making amends, and extending the olive branch of peace. And for those of us who have been hurt, harmed, offended and impacted -- most cruelly, I might add -- by the OP's thoughtless disregard in the past, I would prevail upon you to grasp this branch in the spirit it has been offered. Let the OP's unusually courageous act of humility, grace and compassion stand as a lasting example for us all.
P.S. WTF are you yapping about? |
Best post I've seen in while. OOps, sorry about that, I meant to say "a while." |

I can imagine it. Mars, for instance. Venus is another one, then there's Jupiter, Saturn, the list goes on for a while ...
I could be wrong, of course. There might mops and lawn chairs in all of these places. I guess we'll just have to go there to find out. But even if we find just one mop and lawn chair on Mars, we're going to have to look on all the other worlds. I'm serious. It's definitely worth the expense and risk, I figure. |

Let me be the first to admit that I do not have all the answers.
I do not know whether there are mops on Mars.
But I do know that if God wanted to create mops on Mars, there would be mops on Mars, though I don't know why He would have needed them.
As to lawn chairs, I think it is safe to say that if you left your lawn chair out overnight on Mars, it would be there in the morning.
There is a very low crime rate on Mars. We could learn a lot by their example. |
