Ok, so I bought an ipod a year or so ago and attached it to my laptop, which died a while back. I've got a new computer and I want to put my songs onto it, and get my ipod to work on it. I've googled it, but the only sites that come up want to charge me 15 bucks or so for the software...I'm willing to pay that if I have to, but anyone know a better (free-er) way? Thanx.

That was helpful. Maybe try using a knock-off program like Yamipod if you're simply using a music manager.

You should be able to download Itunes for free, which will allow you to use your Ipod on your computer. Unfortunately, unless you setup your Ipod as a storage unit as well as a music player, you won't be able to transfer your songs from your Ipod to your computer. I have an old obsolete model that I love dearly despite it being yuppie crap, and that's the way mine works. When you plug your Ipod into your computer for the first time, be careful not to let it wipe out your music. Itunes will try to always put the particular computer's music onto the Ipod. A way to avoid that is to make sure your Ipod is set up for manual updates. Automatic updates are for chumps anyway.
