Hi Everyone (especially those with children),
My mother, my sister and my sister's young children (age 2 and 4)will be coming to Korea to visit me for 10 days. I am planning to take them to Jeju Island for 4 days/ 3 nights. What sites do you recommend that we see in Seoul and on Jeju Island. Are any of the hotels on Jeju Island especially kid friendly? And what is the most cost effective means of travel to Jeju? Should I book an air, car, hotel package or should I book each of these things seperately?
Please respond and thank you |

i lived in Jeju for a year. Cant think of that much to do for kids. I don't have any kids but i once was one.
Jeju does have kids swimming pools at some of the hotels, ostriches at hallim park, two or three miniature lands and a magic theater... there are also a few very shallow beaches. I think there are also one or two kids orientated parks with names like 'happy land' and things like that. Love land is not one of them.
One problem, its too late in the year, unless your family is coming next summer I really wouldn't bother going. If you go out of season some things will not be open.... Going outside to see the beautiful scenery might not be as much fun if the rain is always thrashing down. As it does.
A lot of the best things to do in Jeju are very outdoorsy and not so good for young children IMO. Tourist season in Jeju officially ends on September 1st.
If you are dead set on going then I would book everything separately, off season you should not have a problem in booking at any hotels and you might be able to negotiate the price. The rent a car places are right by the airport you could get a taxi or ask at information, no problem.
Everland is near Seoul!
*edit - if you are thinking about going over chuseok then you probably have no chance now but then i'm not in the country and dont know exactly when it is |

We went with kids (3 and newborn) last year and had a great time - the Elephant Show, Miniature land, submarine, and boat tours were big hits with my 3-year old.
Skip the chocolate museum--it's a rip-off (with low-quality chocolate, imo). |

| IMO it may not be too late for the beaches if the weather is fair. Last year temps stayed quite warm well into october....that said the beaches are 'officaily' closed (i.e. not soju tents set up along the shore) but you are still totally free to go there and do as you like. |
