I just received my Chuseok gift from my Principal and it turned out to be two 1 kg boxes of those little dried fish. How in hell am I gonna get through that much?? I think spam might have been better! Anybody else get any nice gifts?

I'm hoping for liquor. Maybe some Blue Label. Cheap brandy that looks expensive would be fine.

My sweet co teacher bought me and a friend of my choice- a 1 hr facial and back massage at a beauty shop. My school gave me a 30,000won clothing voucher and 2 cute coffee mugs. I'm happy with that! Smile

I got a whole pile of nothing. Not even a hearty "*beep* you roundeye. Enjoy your 3 days of loneliness". Nothing last year, either. Plenty of stuff for the Korean staff, though (money AND gifts)

Got a huge box of frozen beef. It has five packages, and each package has about 6-7 squares of meat. They said it cost 250,000 won. Considering this company employs hundreds of people, godamn..

I have two small oranges on my desk. Not sure if they are my gift or not but I don't want them.

Just got six bars of almond yogurt soap from my vice-principal. I am down to a sliver of soap, so I appreciate it! Last year I got a box of spam from my hogwon boss. I left in in my last apartment when I left.

Some kind of box of rice crackers. Probably give it to my doorman. The other FT got a box of seaweed. So i'd say I fared better.

I work for a software company that has around 1,200 employees.

This Chuseok the bonus system for regular (non-managerial) employees is as follows

Employees that have been with the company for less than 1 month: 100,000 won.

Employees that have been with the company for between 1 and 5 months: 200,000 won.

Employees that have been with the company for more than 5 months: 300,000 won.

Everyone seems pretty happy with the system.

No, not at all. He asked flat out if I wanted it or not. He didn't try to pass it off as a gift. Hell, his name is on the box in black marker!
