Its disgusting that nobody is doing anything. It would take a hundred marines on a luch break to go in here, take Mugabe and his cronies out and save those people. Shame on South Africa and other African countries.

Where is the UN?

Where are the "peace" activists?

Some just protest a little too much.

Where is the UN indeed. Between this, Darfur, and Iraq I tend to think the UN doesn't exist Shocked

They were well aware of Iraq after all the UN was on Saddam's payroll.

Where is Britain? Where is the US? Since when did Bush need a UN mandate?

Thanks for the admission that the UN is useless.

For the record Saddam was worse than Mugabe by any measure.

US has done more than many. Besides what the US does or doesn't do doesn't excuse the UN or the so called "peace movement's" selective criticism.

Why are they upset about what the US does and silent here?

As I said they protest too much.

This bothers me so much. I like you, huffdaddy, because you and I share a love of college hoops. However, this is one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenarios.

If the U.S. were to go in, people would be screaming at the tops of their lungs about how horrible the U.S. is for policing the world. If we don't, we get people saying that the U.S. doesn't care because there's nothing there of monetary value.

Basically, the U.S. government, since they became the world's #1 superpower, can't win.

Sure. But if you don't care what the American public or the world community thinks, then what's stopping you from acting?

BTW, when did I ever say I love college hoops?

Could you highlight the part where I said that?

Quote:

How about this measure:

http://news.independent.co.uk/world/africa/article1990401.ece
Quote:
The World Health Organisation has plotted this precipitous fall in women's mortality in the former British colony from 65, little more than a decade ago, to today's low. Speaking privately, WHO officials admitted to The Independent that the real number may be as low as 30, as the present figures are based on data collected two years ago.

The reasons for this plunge are several. Zimbabwe has found itself at the nexus of an Aids pandemic, a food crisis and an economic meltdown that is killing an estimated 3,500 people every week. That figure is more than those dying in Iraq, Darfur or Lebanon. In war-torn Afghanistan, where women's plight has received global attention, life expectancy is still above 40.

http://geography.about.com/b/a/257833.htm
Quote:
Due to the years of war and violence in Iraq, it is one of the few non-African countries to have a drop in life expectancy. Iraqi life expectancy in 1990 for males and females from birth was 66.5, now the Population Reference Bureau reports that life expectancy for both sexes in Iraq has dropped to a mere 59 and for males alone the life expectancy from birth is 57.

As I said they don't protest enough.

Fixed your quote for you.
