I bought this HP desktop 2 GB with 850 intel duo core last summer with new flat HP monitor.
I can't find a buyer and I'm running out of time. Should I ship it to Seoul or donate it and buy a laptop ? |

Where are you now and how much do you want for it?
Donate it to a school. |

Strip out the good parts and take that home. Take the memory, the chip, the HD, the video card, maybe even the mother board. |

Put it in a box and bring it as checked luggage or give it away.
The cost of shipping it is almost more than the cost of replacing it.
You can get a similar system here for about 400k won (monitor included). |

I dont think so.. more like 800
he did say he has a 850 intel duo core which runs about 300 bucks!
2 gig ram add another 100.00 thats 400..
the monitor will run you close you 400! and who knows what else he spent on his sound card, graphic card etc...
best bet, take out the processor , mother board, ram, and graphic cards and pack it in your suitcase! if the monitor is small enough pack that too and carry it on, or check it! and bring it here... |

ummm ... core duo is NOT the same as core2duo and what is an intel 850 duo core? not anything that intel knows about.
http://www.intel.com/products/processor%5Fnumber/
The 800 and 900 series were pentium D (dual core processors).
Perhaps a pentiumD 805, 840 or even a 950 ? They are dual core processers and HP put them in most of their desktops last summer (2006). In fact they were the MOST common processor in systems distributed in the summer of 2006.
Intel core2duo numbers were ALL 5 digits (1 alpha preceding 4 numerals).
T5n00, T5n50, T7n00, L7200, L7400
E4n00/Pentium E21n0/Celeron 4n0
E6n00, E6n20, X6n00, Q6n00 and QX6n00
E6n40, E6n50, QX6n50
ERGO... a comparable system here would run about 400-500k won (with a 19" LCD monitor).

I'm using a Pentium D 930 at the moment. 120,000 in Yongsan. The 805 is even cheaper.
The OP should leave his machine with a friend or family member as a gift or ask them to try and sell it for him. Then buy something hot and new as per ttompatz suggestions. |

Hmm..2 1gig sticks of Samsung ram will run you about 60,000w here. I bought a new HP w2207 22" flat lcd for 350,000 several months ago...blah, blah. I agree that there is no problem with luggaging the small, low weight parts, but only if you plan on building your PC yourself once you get here. What's the point? |

My comp. is also a desktop. it is a slim case, and has a flat monitor. I am taking it home. It will fit in luggage. I tried it. I also can carry it with me.
the monitor will fit in a big back pack, and the tower I can carry. If you do not have a lot of luggage, you can bring it. |

the Core2duo E6 850 is what I thought he ment as thats the only code I now with the 850 in it with duo core.. and that runs close to 300.000
so if he has that chip then it will cost more than 400k but if he has a cheap lower quality chip which Im guessing then yes he will pick up a sytem like that for arond 400-500K.. |

If he gets a computer here, will he be able to get all the programs he has on there in english?
My computer here plays dvd's from all over the world. I made dvd's for my dad in the USA, but they did not play. |

Yes, but he may have to make a trip to Yongsan or technomart to find them (or get them on-line from a cyberstore (or some unauthorized source like torrents).
