I think I'll start saving my money. 20/20 for a couple of thousand USD? It would be great to have that kind of vision again. Thanks for all the helpful posts!

Some people do it. I wouldn't. Part of why I want it is that the current difference between my two eyes means wearing glasses gives me a headache. Having one eye good and the other still bad (as opposed to one bad and one worse) sounds like a terrible idea to me, but it might be worth it to someone else.

Not if you wear contact lenses. Wearing one contact lense doesn't sound so bad

You have to take the contact lenses out 2-4 weeks (or more - depending on the type of lenses) before the check-up and surgery. This is why I'm currently haunting the boards btw. Can't see for shit, nothing else to do but go online.
