I don't know how long it will stay on there though, because a couple of them have been pulled already. |

| Most flat earthers don't really believe the earth is flat. It's more of an intellectual exercise. "Hmmm how could I argue for a position that seems indefensible." I do believe there are some Christians who argue still the sun goes around the earth. |

Most terrifying comment: "Four members of the Republican party running for president do not believe in evolution." Godamn. What is it with these cornbread idiot Americans proudly refusing to acknowledge science?? |
Science is a system of acquiring knowledge. The answers found are not the be all end all. While we accept evolution as truth for the most part, it may end up being even more than that or totally retooled in the future. Who cares if they believe in it or not? It's a theory. Creation is a theory.
The best teacher is one who says "We don't really know what the hell truth is, so we research it. Maybe the earth was created. Maybe everything evolved. We don't know because we live in the here and now and all we have is a bunch of bones, fragments, and machines to make assumptions with. Let's do our own research to find the truth"
If people stopped bickering about how we got here and kept their opinions to themselves, they could collaborate and find better answers. |

a) Creation is not a theory in any scientific sense and thus is not even on the same level as evolution. In fact, the two are not even comparable as they explain different things. Why bring it up?
b) Evolution is undeniable by anyone who observes reality. Species evolve. Only idiots deny that.
c) The politicians' stance is not based on ardent scientific research. Instead, it's simply polemics. There's no reason to go around trying to justify their hair-brained comments.

If creationists actually used the system of science to gather knowledge to support their hypothesis, then they might call it a theory. (Since you're using science in the first sentence, I'm going to assume you mean theory in the scientific sense. If you're using theory to mean merely "guess" or "hypothesis" then we need to redirect you to the evolution thread for some education on the lines of evidence for evolution.) However, creationists don't actually do science. The extent of their work is creating a false dichotomy. "If not evolution, then biblical creationism".
Even Intelligent Design, the number of papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals is slim to none. No one can even seem to get an ID proponent to suggest a way to even test ID. Merely pointing at something and saying "looks created" isn't really science.

Last time I checked, scientists aren't bickering. They're just doing their work as scientists, gathering evidence, conducting experiments, publishing papers. It's religious politicians and preachers who have decided this scientific theory is at odds with their literal interpretations. They would like to remove it from schools, cut off public research dollars. Some elements within the Christian fold have even take a page from the anti-abortion movement and have started making death threats against scientists studying evolution. So, you might forgive science if it tries to engage its detractors. |
