Any cooking/shopping savvy English/Korean speakers out there who can tell me what cut of meat this beef is? I got a nice pile of it as a gift for Chuseok yesterday and would like to cook it up tonight...but I'm not sure if I should cook it as stew meat or steak!

대 맥 우 앞 다 리 (부 채 살) 구 이

After that it says it's from Australia...I've done my best with a dictionary and still can't deciper this. One part says ribs of a fan...??? Maybe it's beef kalbi? (without the bones)

Is it the long, thin strips like this:

If so, I would just fry that with some seasoning and make mashed potatoes or something to go with it. Or if it's thin enough, cut it into smaller pieces and boil it with some rice noodle vermicelli, a bit of soy sauce, and diced vegetables.

No...Though it is well marbled, like your picture shows. These pieces are about a half inch thick. There's just over a kilo of this delicious looking stuff. I would try pan-frying them as steaks but there are so many of them, plus the lady who gave them to me also gave me a package of steaks; I already broiled one of them for lunch.

So. I've just decided to kind of barbecue them in a slow cooker. Whatever they are!

Thanks for your helpfulness and cooking suggestions!

Laughing Laughing

Jongno Guru, grilling sounds great...but I don't have a grill. I do have a slow cooker, however, that I picked up at a used furniture store for 10,000 won. And it would be very easy to make a barbecue sauce; I've got all the ingredients. Of course, I'll have to have it for breakfast instead of dinner tonight... Confused (But that's okay because I've got chicken with balsamic vinegar sauce in the oven right now; it'll be done in half an hour. I'm backed up on meat!)

I'm vegetarian, so I don't know about the meat. Aren't the cut of meat in the first picture in the thread the kind that you see people dipping into the shinseollo pot?

Hey Laura, just saw an old posting from you about used shops in Nowon... you said you found another one and i was just wondering if you can tell me the location of that one. We're going to the one that is out exit 3 of hagye station across from savezone past small hospital, second block on left after metalworks shop, etc etc. we'd love to go to the other one too if you know exactly where it is or how we can get to it! thanks in advance!
