Season 1 episode one has a special place in my funny bone. It's the one where the guy tries to do a backflip and doesn't quite make it. HILARIOUS.....

Hell's yeah!

"And now it's time for Kenny's most painful eliminations of the day!"

I've been watching Hell's Kitchen Monday nights on AFN and Top Chef Tuesdays. They're pretty good as far as "mainstream tv" goes. Actually, AFN isn't too bad overall with their nightly programming.

I was reading how Creature Comforts is supposed to be good, but after watching a few episodes, I can't see it.

The wire is insanely good if you want something a bit slower burning, i'm talking about quality drama with a quality script unlike prison break and the like which is just one long action scene.

Deadwood is also absolutely amazing, that show is so epic its unbelievable, best script ever IMO. Unfortunately it is unfinished. In my view however there could be no satisfactory ending to that show anyway.

Why does HBO have to cancel all of their best shows? That is another question.

The Peep Show is one of the best British comedies of recent years, you wont have seen anything like it. It craps all over The office, both of them, and makes arrested development look like friends. If you like Curb your enthusiasm' that shows that you are intelligent and will like Peep Show as well.

...there is also entourage if you want to turn your brain off, i think its a guy thing though, its probably slightly misogynistic.

you could just download all the old 3rd Rock from the Sun instead and watch them again, they just never get old.

Thanks, safeblad! I just finished watching all of my 3rd Rock episodes, and am in the middle of watching Curb Your Enthusiasm, so will begin downloading The Peepshow. Who would've guessed that you had good tastes? Wink

I am looking for recommendations on intelligent shows. I have really enjoyed the dialog in Boston Legal and West Wing.

Any recommendations?

Dexter

Such a smart and well written show. A crime drama but has a lot of funny parts. You'll be hooked after the first episode.

Arrested Development if you haven't yet.

Dexter is good, but really takes a dive after the end of Season 1.

Our English friends here made us download 'Peep Show' and we really enjoyed it. The story is pretty good and throughout the show you can actually hear what the main characters are thinking in different situations. Quite amusing, a good find.

"FOUR NAAN JEREMY, THAT'S INSANE!"

To whomever said it "Peep Show" does indeed poo over "the office".

Another good show is "The Mighty Boosh" but it is a love it or hate it show. Series two is the best. Series 3 is a bit more patchy and sucks up a bit to much to the whole Camden/NME crowd. The Hitcher is genius though.

"Eels...
Eels...
Eels up inside ya, findin' an entrance where they can,
Eels up inside ya, findin' an entrance where they can,
Borin' through your mind, thorugh you tummy, through your anus,
Eels...
Eels..."

"I'm evil, pure evil. I was put away for a thousand years for crimes against humanity.I raped a dolphin!"

"Garth Merenghi's Dark Place" is another good show. It is a spoof of eighties horror and Stephen King's "Kingdom Hospital" with terrible effects, dialogue and wooden acting.

Also "Father Ted" and "Black Books".

If you like stand up:
Marcus Brigstocke "Planet Cordoury"
Bill Bailey: "Cosmic Jam" or "Part Troll"
Dylan Moran: "Like, Totally"

That's some good British comedy. Any Americans know some good comedy I should download?

P.S: To those who recommend Robot Chicken, good call but you should check out the "Adam and Joe show". Genius.

Battlestar Galactica (best show on television according to many critics....I agree). Season 2 of this series was some of the best tv I've ever seen. Just make sure to start from the beginning(including the mini-series).

Weeds

Firefly(few years old, but amazing)

Trailer Park boys(Canadian series, hilarious)

Extras(british, also Hilarious, created by the same guy who created the original Office series for BBC).

Mini-Series:

The lost Room, a original sci-fi mini series or movie that didn't suck, but was actually fantastic.
