My Gateway laptop will not play DVD Videos. I know very little about pc's but I think I need a video plug-in/decoder. ???? If so, what and where?
Windows Media Player 11
XP Pro
DVD/CD ROM Philips DVD+-RW SDVD8820
Help will be appreciated. Thanks Don |

Download vlc player. It plays almost anything. |

No. vlc is a player. If you want to burn DVDs you'll need a burner such as Nero. |

If you need software go to www.download.com it has lots of software both free and pay, and it's spyware free
VLC is there so is a number of dvd burning software. |

For burning data or avi files, I can't believe how simple 'deepburner' is for a free program.
If the DVD is not quite full, then you can add to it later. |

Your computer should play DVDs with WMP11 and XP Pro. Maybe its something wrong with the disc? |

Are these pre-recorded videos that you bought or ones that you have downloaded and burned onto a DVD?
Makes a big difference. |

I did not have up to date codacs/plug-ins. That problem is now corrected and I am looking for free dvd burn software.
I download movies from BitTorrent and would prefer to watch them on TV. |

Just buy a cable to link your computer to the tv. Sure blank dvds are cheap, but if you watch enough it's worth it. Just set it up like an extra monitor. |
