|
|
Having made the switch from Bitlord to Utorrent I'm trying to get it tweaked for best performance.
So for anyone who uses Utorrent, what changes to the default settings helped to maximise perfromance (dl speed, global max number of connections, max number of connected peers, upload slots per torrent, upload/download max number, random port setting, etc).
Any tips? |

These are some easy tweaks that you can try:
Right click on the torrent that you are downloading. Click on Force Start if it has not commenced, yet.
Set the Bandwith Allocation to high. Set download limit to "unlimited".
I'm still waiting to see how to tweak this in a better way as well. Cheers! |

These are the only really tweaky things to change. Fortunately, if you are in Korea and have a typically excellent internet connection then you can bump up the values in those boxes by quite a bit without it affecting your other internet activities.
I simply doubled them.
I did find that I needed to set my Maximum Upload Rate to 500kbps because I was uploading at stupidly high speeds (over 3mbps) and that was sending my HDD into a frenzy and slowing down my computer.
Generally, a lot of the figures you can change in the uTorrent preferences are for those who want to save bandwidth so that they can browse the internet, or whatever, and still keep uTorrent on. Thankfully, living in Korea, you should be able to really open up uTorrent to give yourself the best chance of getting files quickly. |

Thanks for the tips. I'll try those settings for a couple of days. |
