"An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who intentionally posts controversial or contrary messages in an online community such as an online discussion forum or USENET, with the intention of baiting users into an argumentative response."

The key a lot of people forget is the argument baiting. A lot of posts here are called troll posts, when actually they are not.

Or they use it to prop up their weak argument, usually framed with a whole lot of nothin'. Too many soapboxes and too few real lives around here imo.

There are times when one may take a position contrary to the OP, the OP will cry troll. This is usually because the OP just really really wants to be right.

Other trolls will start threads usually of a sexist or racist nature sometimes these trolls don't even know they are trolls.

I admit having been accused of being a troll and worse a sock troll, however my accusers have been known to apologize for such haste.

Links are not necessary in this instance.

I know at times I am convinced that IGTG and Regicide are trolls, however I have come to believe that they in fact truly believe that "the truth is out there" we, the general we, just haven't been enlightened as to how far out there the truth really is.

Please feel free to list the names of some of your most favorite trolls and socks in the remaining reply slots, try not to name existing members that haven't been banned yet.
