Yeah the last time we went, one of the waitress was so rude - she plonked our food down and left.. the food almost came flying out of the plate.

Never again...

yeah? (love your use of that word btw - "plonked" lol).

well, i know one of the younger waitresses that works there. No names. But anyway, she complains about the way its run, hates working there, hates the boss and has decided to quit, her words were something along the lines of "I can't stand it anymore, I've got to get out of here"

I told her about my experience with this certain older, incredibly rude waitress and she said, "yeah, doesn't surprise me, everyone hates working here"

sad. it could be such a fun working environment if they'd all just relax a little

OK. This has been bugging me for months. There is a woman that works at 3 Alley with long straight hair, early thirties I'd guess. All the other younger staff look like students and are OK.
She could be beautiful but she has a constant scowl on her face and is a real B****. I can understand a little impatience working in hospitality, but she is always SO SO rude, especially to women....and especially to attractive women. I conclude that she feels threatened. But thats no excuse. Anyone know who I'm talking about?

Oh, and OP,...the INCESSANT drink thing is ridiculous. One time I almost screamed, "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING RIGHT? I'VE BEEN ASKED 10 TIMES IN THE LAST 30 MINUTES IF I WANT ANOTHER BEER AND 5 TIMES SOMEONE HAS TRIED TO TAKE AWAY MY GLASS THAT ISN'T EVEN EMPTY YET. IF I WANT A BEER I'LL ASK FOR ONE"...luckily I controlled myself and it just came out as a loud order. Don't know why I keep going back there. Think I'm done with that place.

Oh and NEVER order their nachos. 7 000 won gets you a plate of dry corn chips with a tiny side of canned salsa. No cheese, meat, beans nothing.
Just dry chips Shocked

I didn't eat so I can't comment on the food. The place looks very pleasant from the outside (almost classy, even) but the experience was quite disappointing.

As for my pace of drinking, I was not doing Irish car bombs that night but let's just say I've never been accused of being Florence Nightengale. I rarely take more than 10 to 15 min to finish a pint (not proud of it, I just tend to drink, and eat, very quickly), so there was no reason to give me any hassle.

I don't know the woman you're referring to but she certainly would have had no reason to feel threatened on Friday night. Even by Itaewon standards there were few, if any, passable females around that place (apologies if any of you fair maiden were there, I musta overlooked you Very Happy ) Maybe that's why everyone was in a foul mood. That was actually why my friend, who looooves western ladies and thinks of the USA as the home of "Baywatch". wanted to leave.

To the defence: a vcredit card for a 6000 won bill? The rest is a simple misunderstanding.

And why would anyone want to sit in a pub with an empty beer glass?

I think the point is the waitresses don't give you a chance to finish your beer and the bill would have been higher if the service wasn't so bad. In other words he might have stayed longer.

So good service is leaving you with an empty beer glass?

I know EXACTLY who you mean. Been going there on/off for the past 18 months and I've yet to see anything that resembles a smile look like it's going to appear on her face. The other staff are, on the whole, ok in my experiences. They say hello and goodbye, and usually try to make the customers feel comfortable. I'm not a regular, but this is what I've seen when I've been there. However, old sour puss seems to spend the whole of her time there looking as if she's just been told that 90% of the customers have been inserting vegetables into her mother.

ah screw 'em....nothing wrong with using a credit card. Last time I went there the bartender didn't even say hello, he just stood in front of us and waited for our order. I said how ya doing and he just grunted. That place sucks.

Actually, I don't really mind being asked if I'm ready for the next drink. If I'm not - I just say so.

yeah, I agree, nothing wrong with asking if I want another, but the bit about the credit card and then running after him is bad service.

Not really: many places have a minimum for credit cards as there is a transaction cost involved. As for the "unpaid" bill, that was a simple misunderstanding. In my experience oin 3 A - not small - the errors have been always the other way, and I have told them so, as I am a regular.

Come on...you're not making sense now. Provide a proper friendly service if you want a good reputation and returning customers. There's nothing wrong with a person paying with a card. We don't question the customer's circumstance.
The customer paid the bill. Why is someone running after them? That's the bar's fault. They should have compensated for their lack of organization. In my opinion they should have been offered their money back.
