I trade in my won for cash because I was told my Nonghyup
Maestro card will not work outside of Korea.

This canadian I'm with has a Nonghyup card and says he is
going to get cash. I tag along and wonder if I might have
to loan him some money. After he is successful I tried mine.
It gave me an account balance so I tried pulling out a 10000
yen. It worked. I get home and I was charged 465 won which
is 35 won less than the regular after hours charge her in
Korea.

So if you want to withdraw money after hours take the Beetle
to Japan and save 35 won.

Story 2:

I try to buy a ticket home for a little less than 1.5 mil. There's about
2 mil in my account. The travel agent says my card is rejected.
I call the number on the bottom of the website. I get passed from
person to person, get transferred to busy signals and dead lines,
and have to call back numerous times before getting the English
help desk which they call the translation service.

She pointed out the number to me on the website. It
was the number I had originally called, but the touch tone menu
was in Korean and the guy on the phone had told me to dial 7
instead of 730. I was stupid for missing it on the website, but it
was the end of the day and I was tired. What is there excuse
for having Korean menus on their English line? In the US you get
asked if you want English or Spanish.

She offers to call the travel agent for me. She calls me back and
tells me there is a 1 mill limit on purchases. Now I have to do
a transfer, I can't find my password. I really wanted the ticket today
so I could get my Missouri driver's license tomorrow.

I attempted to use my Noghyup card to purchase a computer. The Dell woman on the phone (in Korea) took all my info but the following day I was told it had been rejected. No reason but we speculated it was because the amount exceeded my daily limit. So on the second day she took my info again and said she could split the payment, 50% this month and 50% next month. OK, I say... Next day, rejected again. Found out that the card, even though it has the BC and Cirrus (or is it Plus), doesn't work like our Visa check cards back home. Thanks for the info I could have used 2 days ago. That said, I am happy with Noghyup because they gave me an international debit card when all others told me to take a long walk off a short pier.

Hey, OP good morning fellow Missourian. My license was expiring a couple months ago and I called Jeff City last April from Korea since I could not renew my license last December before I left on account of it being too far from expiration. I was told to use the military form on their website and a $20 money order so I did.

I mailed it off and got a 1 year license and my money order returned and a letter telling me not to do that again and that it was a one time thing since I was not military. The letter also said I have up to 6 months after expiration to renew without having to retake the test.

You call them and see if they tell you to do that if you're not going to be home before your license expiration. There are very few Missourians outside of military who actually travel abroad which makes it a real gray area not very well covered.

When I went home for family emergency leave, I attempted to buy a ticket and it was going to be 3 million won and then had my director try and it was 1.4 million won, both on the North West Airlines. You might see if you can get a Korean such as your director as a Korean can get a better deal.
