(I apologize that I originally posted this with the wrong date. The screening is this Saturday, Sept 29. See updated poster).

Talking about the 5.18 Kwangju Uprising
Free bilingual event.

Demanding democracy, facing repression.
People creating a spontaneous community of resistance and autonomy?
It happened in Kwangju in 1980; still inspiring people worldwide.

I think that was the one question he answered in the first post about it. Isn't it in English?

The documentary has English subtitles, and the discussion will be English/ Korean, with translation.

Well, normally I would go to something like this. BUT "Still inspiring people world-wide"? Unless they are talking about expat Koreans (and I think we know they are not) I take this to be another example of dellusions of grandeur. Hence, I'm already turned off by it.

It's at 4pm. It's maybe a bit hard to see on the poster, it's on top of a darkish patch in the image, before the date.

I wonder what kind of discussion they plan on having. Why the word 토론? Is it going to be a debate about something?

Come, come now. Perhaps he didn't know what 'bilingual' meant. Not everybody here is an English teacher. (oh, wait a second...)

I used to wonder about that myself but I have often heard Koreans use the words 의논 and 토론 interchangeabley. I guess there is a more subtle distinction than in English.
