Every classroom in my school is supposed to have a TV connected to a computer that's on-line. I would say that about 20-30% of the time something isn't working. Today I went to a classroom five minutes early to set up the computer for a listening-pop-song-video lesson for my grade one class only to see a big gap under the desk where the computer should be.

'Where's the computer????'

'Uhh?' ... 'Mullaeyo' ... 'Upsaeyo' ... 'There is computer no [arms crossed motion]'.

So I'm off to race back to the staff room and make 30 handouts of my grade 2 lesson, which will soon become my grade 1 lesson today as well.

This kind of thing happens every bloody week. It really stresses the point in giving us our own English-zone classrooms if for no other reason than we at least have resources we can rely on.

I have my own classroom and all of the AV equipment seems to work 100% of the time so far. Got one of those big arse touch screen thingamajigs too....

I know what the OP means. There is no regular maintainance on the tech stuff where I'm at either, so most people save time by not using it.

I have had some issues with my tech equipment not working sometimes. However, i just fix it myself. ^^

Probably about 10-15% of the time here. 싫어요.

this year more often than not, but never in the office.

i had my own classroom last year, and it was around 10%.

After 18 months of asking, I got a computer in my English Zone.
Now I"m trying to get Internet access.

13 of my 19 classes have equipment that doesn't work. The TV and computer aren't connected properly, and nobody knows how to do it. Also, the overhead projector thing doesn't show up on the TV, so I can't even show pictures or props that way. It sucks b/c I'd like to use a powerpoint presentation or a youtube video once in a while.

Couldn't use the computer once because the kid who had the password was home sick with pink eye. Admin didn't know what it was, great! I just pulled a different lesson out my magical English spouting arse. Next time I'll just stand there and they can learn by osmosis.

Our tech guy is pretty much useless unless I get the other K-teachers on his ass. They hooked up a projector and speakers over Summer break and when I got to class the cables where everywhere and nothing was hooked up. So I spent the better part of a day hooking it up myself, which was doubly hard because the laptop they gave me is all in Korean! Then a week later (after classes had started) the tech guy comes in and asks if I need help operating the damn thing, you know, like how to work a remote control...

So far, A/V has worked every time without any problems. The school network is a whole other animal though...in that case it's best to download any web content you may need beforehand and save it to a thumb drive, just in case.

I've got a massive HDTV and projector and 5.1 speaker system that work flawlessly, but if you are good teacher you don't need A/V bs to teach - it just detracts their attention and makes then even less likely to listen to you. I only use V as a time waster. And I'm the interactive A. Why would I use any other A. If students need recorded A they can watch EBS.
