It means that they'll take about 100,000 won/month from your pay, and your employer will match it (hence 50/50), and you probably get all of it back when you leave Korea - depending on where you're from....

A 100,000 won is only 100 US dollars right???
Why 100,100? Are you sure they won;t take a Million won..in other words half of my paycheck???

They will take about 100,000 Won.. and submit that to the Pension program as well as contribute another 100,000 Won (approximate). So.. you pay half of the contribution and they pay half.

You get it all back when you return home. (Well Canadian anyway.. let me know if other countries don't).

Hell... if they wanted to take half my salary and double it in the pension... I'd love it. An extra million...... that'd be sweet...

Wow, yet another completely redundant question posted by kentucker. Didn't we already establish that this guy was a regular user's sock? Why are people still putting up with his antics? We've already had the "job offer" post asking what types of hours and pay is normal for Korea. And the visa questions. The Dating in Korea questions. The Korea vs. Thailand questions. The red light district questions. The bringing a dog to Korea questions. The shots in Korea questions. The how much money can I save questions. The what should I bring questions. And, who could forget the Korean girls are easy, stupid, slutty thread: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=97858&highlight=

Anywyas, to important matters. You guys make it sound like it's hard to get laid in Sout Korea. Is this true? What are the women like at the bars? I plan on going out a good bit and meeting lot's of Korean women. I have always been attracted to Oriental women in general. But I will confess. I like my women easy when I'm out drinking. Is this type of scene in Busan?

I'm sure it's only a matter of time until we get "Where is HomePlus?", "Any Western food in Bundang?" and "Anybody hear of CDI?" Rolling Eyes

That was an honest question. I did look over the faq and couldn't find it. Plus, I had little time as I told my contact I'd give him my decision very soon. Why do my questions bother you anyways? Just don't freaking answer them instead of calling me names. This is a forum where people can post whatever they want as long as it's not too offensive so get off your high horse please.

What part of pension = 9% of salary and contributions are a 50/50 split between employer and employee do you not understand?

There is a reason why they are called FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and why people like me have taken the time to write the answers in them.

Usually I would say there are no stupid questions but after reading your posts I am becoming less convinced of that fact.

This is fact. Ignore the rest of the horsesh1t flying around.

I'm surprised at the harsh replies to someone who works in a mill and is considering taking his first job overseas. He's overly cautious, and rightly so, especially after reading the bitches and moans of the expat malcontents on this board.

Carry on, Kentucker.
