Thanks, igotthisguitar. Let me know if you hear of anything happening in Seoul Smile

I don't think I suggested that facebook was going to topple the regime, just that it might help keep the story topical. Sorry if I seemed to suggest otherwise.

Peace.

No need to apologize Jeff ...

Tree: Burma has its own karma, as do we all.

Communion with the essence through prayer applies everywhere ... for all of time Idea

e.g. at-ONE-ment

Do you have faith, Tree?

i have faith in people, not god, or any other name you want to call it

if those monks had gone into rangoon with weapons instead of prayers they would have won.

of course that creates it's own problems, but for me the idea of faith is the idea of finding balance, and you can't find balance by relying on karma/god/allah/the force etc

ego-derived products such as violence = BAD KARMA Idea

Re-lying on karma? Laughing

How deep is your faith, Tree? As deep as the monks of Burma?

The violence appears to have subsided. God only knows how many people are being starved, tortured & beaten
in isolation, away from the revealing eyes of the world's media.

Thank goodness the loss of life is much less than the JUNTA's " ... these are not crimes against humanity" 88'.

Metta.

to be honest i don't have a lot of faith in the greater good

buddhist monks have done some pretty shit stuff in their time too, so maybe this is their karma

my opinion is that no religious philosophy will sort the world out, if only it were that easy, but my original point was that sitting and praying is not going to do shitexcept make you feel better

Imagine
by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Ah, yes, John Lennon the idealist, who spoke of no possessions but was a multi-millionaire himself. Just another liberal hypocrite without a clue.

Yes, the world would be so much better if we were all atheists.

He was a right bloody hypocrit. Not only that, he harped on about pacifism, yet he liked to knock his women around. Yoko and Cynthia copped a few bashings. On top of that he could be extremely nasty and liked humiliating people. So he could bang on about peace in the macro, but he couldn't even deal it out himself in the micro. Self-righteous w@nker.

Big Bird:

At first I thought you we're being facitious but I think you're serious. I recall reading many years ago that he beat his first wife but didn't know that Yoko got the same.

Funny how he's worshipped unconditionally by the music establishment, at least publicly. I've always preferred Paul McCartney, who has a greater gift for melody. Please don't tell me he has a dark side too, or does he?

I often hear the word "wan-ker" from Brits. What exactly does it mean in your social context?

I'm inclined to think Hinkley did the world a favor.

Shocked

Especially in light of there being unripened negative 'past-life' karma you have a very good point.

Surely the monks would almost certainly agree.

Non-liberated actions.

Eternal wages of sin Idea

Don't underestimate the power of prayer, look at Ghandi.

Burma has too many refugees, and obviously the military are comfortable while many people cannot even afford to pay a bus fare to go to work. Sounds like Zimbabwe.

What is the benefit of putting a nuclear research facility in Burma?

I don't think Burma will implode, not just yet.

Many people say to boycott going to Burma because it is a case not to feed the military with foreign dollars.

My two bob worth.
