Luckily I was smart enough in high school to choose something with more options than that gives Smile

41-60%

What a bunch of sticks in the mud. Rolling Eyes

I was having way too much fun in college to worry about little things like going to class and studying. Still, I managed a 3.2 GPA without trying.

oh? in all due respect, young lady? so are my scholastical achievements and attainments but what makes you think that a collegial general arts credential isn't as academically accredited as any other degree in a Korean ELT job market? Cool

I said some arts degrees are good. Some are complete crap and everyone knows it, and most general arts students I have met have said they wished they had done something else. I am not judging yours in particular, just saying that only using GPAs to compare is not really saying anything.

I'm a guy too Smile

I hung around UMass-Amherst for about two-and-a half years in the late '60s, but - as an acid-head artist/revolutionary experiencing existential turmoil, I found it difficult to function as a student.

Mainly, I was always up all night and rarely made it to any classes since I crashed during the day (If I woke up and saw daylight I'd close the curtains and put on a blacklight...)

Though I usually was able to withdraw from courses near the end of each term, I got to a point where I had to get an A in at least one course to keep from flunking out. It didn't look good since I hadn't attended any classes that term save the first day.

Luckily, while I was tripping on some "microdot" (or whatever) I ran into a freaky friend - also tripping - who had taken the same Sociology course, and he somehow coherently reviewed the main concepts.

Still tripping, I went in and "brilliantly" aced the Final and got an improbable "A" for the course.

About twenty-five years later I graduated from a nondescript business college with a 4.0 GPA (in Paralegal studies...)

There were about five other students with perfect GPA's, but I was usually the top student (and grading-curve buster) in all my classes over four years - probably because I was the most sober... Cool

Wow, many smart people here. Unfortunately I'm not one of them Crying or Very sad
My GPA was so bad, I was afraid I would get my visa application denied.
I had too much fun in university and now I'm living to regret it. Will probably go back to school next year to help that.

I put myself in the lowest. ('C' student).

I took 6 years to finish a 4 year degree, and just *barely* squeeked through it. If it wasn't for persistence and good relations with some of my professors, I wouldn't have.

I really, really have a hard time believing that I'm the exception in Korea...

I went to a university that used a 9 point GPA. I had a 7.0 GPA out of 9.

I think you're just one of the few people who are being honest. Either that or folks with a lower GPA aren't voting.

I majored in Business Management, which is a bit more demanding than an Art or a General Studies degree.

Yes. My theory exactly. Most of us underachievers wouldn't respond.
I'm not embarrassed. I've done some good things before and after uni.

I majored in a technical field, but I still won't use that as an excuse. My marks were terrible, and I have nobody or nothing else to blame but myself for that. However, I *did* finish, I was proud to finish, and my poor marks haven't held me back....yet.

So all those 25 people who voted top 20%, what the hell are they doing teaching English in Korea? They're there for the 'experience'. Yeah, whatever...
