I'm thinking of buying a bike (motorbike, not a scooter) and was wondering if there are any female riders out there? Would be nice to have a female riding buddy. Actually most of my friends are blokes, but it was an idea I had today. I hate shopping - so going for a Sunday ride with a female friend sounds fun, but is it possible? |

Former co-worker had one. Rode back and forth between Seoul and Daejeon every weekend. |

As soon as I get out there and pay off my loan, I'm getting one. That's months away though. |

I've been shopping for one recently, and still no decided on getting a lean forward and go zoom street bike or a lean back and relax Harley. I most likely won't be using it on intercity expressways/highways. Pretty much just city biking. |

Ha, I have a picture in my head of what I want but I have no idea what it's called. Based on those descriptions, I would go for the street bike. |

Biker women give me goosebumps. Pity there's so few of them, especially in this country. K-princesses do NOT ride motorcycles, and bitch about the danger when I even mention that I ride--- there are far more vicarious female passengers than actual biker chicks back in Wisconsin too.... way too many girls want a ride, but strangely think that *learning* to ride is too dangerous. (Go figure....)
Natalie--- way to take the leap from passenger to driver! Ever heard of the Yongsan Dragon club? It's a Seoul based expat motorcycle club. There's quite a few expat biker clubs in Seoul and elsewhere that probably have a visible minority contingent of women bikers. They've got a website here: http://www.roaddragons.com/ |

Uh yeah you won't be able to use on expressways/highways here as it is illegal as far as I know. That's what I can't get over people who buy harleys over here as they'll never really have a chance to open it right up. Good luck though............ |

So my co-worker has been breaking the law every weekend for the past year by going back and forth to Seoul and Daejeon? |

Yep. Fortunately Korea's Finest aren't really into the whole "enforcement" fad that's sweeping our home countries. I know one Canadian dude who got pulled over for breaking that particular law. They just instructed him to get off the road as quickly as possible and sent him on his way, not even a written warning. They don't care when most of us do it, though I've heard that they throw the book at U.S. soldiers. |

I've had a car for 9 of the 10 years I've been here and NEVER seen a motorbike on the expressways. That's not to say some people don't try but we've had this discussion in my classes and the students specifically say that it is illegal. Anyway good luck............. |
